The UPI 123PAY feature enables UPI payments via a phone call using the Canara Bank’s IVR number 9558-123-123, eliminating the requirement for a smartphone or internet connectivity.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is the most favorable mode of transactions among users. Since its launch, UPI has transformed the digital payments across the country. UPI is predominantly accessed through UPI apps, which require smart phone with internet connection. UPI services can also be availed through NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) without internet and smart phone using the short code *99#. But this option is cumbersome and not popular.

With its “Mobile first “approach, UPI is able to facilitate multiple & new use cases, however feature phone users are still not able to enjoy the benefits of UPI.

To overcome the above limitations and to make the feature phone users in the country to utilize the benefit of UPI services seamlessly, an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) based UPI solution named “UPI 123PAY” has been introduced by Canara Bank. This facility can be availed through a dedicated IVR number.

Registration Process for Canara UPI 123PAY ✍

  1. User dials the dedicated IVR number: 9558-123-123 from the registered mobile number.
  2. For the first time, user will be asked to set default language.
  3. For registration purpose, the on-going call gets disconnected. Then, User gets a IVRS based call back and instructions are given for linking Bank account.
  4. User has to give voice-based input for selecting the Bank (Name of the Bank). Based on the Bank selected, Account numbers linked to user mobile number will be retrieved to enable the user to select and link anyone account.
  5. On successful linking of Bank account, new UPI ID will be assigned to the user in the Bank prescribed format i.e., <10-digit user Mobile number>.ai1@cnrb
  6. If user had already set UPI PIN on any UPI platform, the same can be used for performing transactions. Otherwise, user must set UPI PIN using debit card details linked to the selected account.
  7. Users completed registration on UPI 123PAY can perform transactions by again dialing to dedicated IVR number 9558-123-123.

Conditions Applicable for availing Canara UPI 123PAY Services 📑

  • Users should explicitly register to this facility, even if they are already using UPI services through UPI apps.
  • Separate VPA/UPI ID will be allotted upon registration.
  • Presently, only peer-to-peer transactions (P2P) are permitted.
  • Maximum 5 transactions are allowed in a day.
  • Only one account can be linked to a mobile number.

The following Transaction Limits are applicable for Canara UPI 123Pay:                     

  • Maximum limit per transaction: Rs. 1000/-
  • Cumulative maximum daily usage value: Rs.5,000/-

1. UPI Payment via IVR Number
With this solution, customers can utilize UPI services by dialing a predetermined number. They can select options through the keypad to access and benefit from UPI services.

2. Missed Call Payment
This solution enables customers to conduct transactions by calling a number presented on the merchant‘s side. Subsequently, the customer receives a call from a designated number to verify the transaction by entering their UPI PIN. Once the UPI PIN is entered correctly, the transaction is deemed successful.

3. OEM-Implemented Payment Functionality
Through this solution, customers can have a UPI app on their feature phone, allowing them to seamlessly make transactions.

4. Sound-Based Payment Technologies
This innovative solution requires customers to dial the IVR number, choose the “pay to merchant” option, tap their mobile phones on the merchant device (POD), press # once the POD emits a unique tone, and then enter the amount and UPI PIN to complete a successful transaction.

Q. What if I transfer money, it is debited from my account but beneficiary does not receive it?
In case of failures money will be refunded back to your account. Sometimes this takes longer than intended. If you do not receive the refund within 1 hour, please contact customer support at your bank.

No, debit card details are required to activate UPI.
